Program Description

Travel to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan and Ontario, Canada, for field-based experience on the coevolution of life and earth over long geological time scales where one of the world’s best rock records for these events is readily accessible. The program runs May 4 – June 20.

The field experience group departs from Oakland University, traveling by van to Sault Ste. Marie in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The following days include travel to Ontario, Canada, for exploration in Wawa, Elliott Lake, Sudbury. The group returns to Oakland University visiting two to four sites in Michigan along the way (to study recent evidence of glaciation events and fossiliferous beds).
